  As a very inactive JW, my 2 cents on this whole JW TV thing is that the Society has to keep up with the times. Lets face it, we live in the digital media age, where tablets and smart phones rule the universe. The younger generation will have known nothing else but internet media and Social Networking sites. I think they have no choice if they want to stay relevant. In my opinion, I don't think they will become anything like The 700 Club or the like, I think it will just be more of an "educational" platform for them to reach more people. I think folks on here are making too much of it. I too grew up in the 70s and 80s and also remember when the internet first arrived in the 90s as an adult, and I remember thre JW's being so cautious about using the internet, and later Social Networking sites, stating that it could become an "addiction". They have definetely done a switch-a-roo here, but like I said, I think it will just be a glorified meeting/ assembly style format.

  The thing of it is, you can't sue the Elders/Org for for enforcing their "guidelines" or prescribed set of "rules" as it may be put. When we became JW we all knew what DF is and what the consequences mean. We all saw DF people in the KH at one time or another and we were instructed not to socialize or even "say a greeting" to DF persons. So, with that being said, we all knowingly took part in the processes of JW's, it's not like it was a big surprise to find out that "No one is going to talk to me or do business with me when I am DF" I'ts kind of silly...........I am not saying that I do not understand the anger and feeling of wanting to exact revenge on some of these JW bonehead Elders, no doubt. But, common sense tells me that I could not bring a legal suit regarding this matter, unless there were extenuating circumstances, such as harrassment, threats, stalking other JW's to see what they are up too......My brother actually got followed and stalked by JW Elders in Oregon.......very small down, and I guess those retards had nothing better to do with their time. They would hide in their car across the street, behind bushes and even followed him as he was walking down the street one day, rolling down the window and telling him "We know what you are up to, we will catch you eventually" My brother finally lost it and replied that if they did not stop stalking him, he would call the police.......it was the last time they did it. I know how crazy they can get..................IN that case, you bet, I would have nailed the crap out of them!! But I do understand the emotion behind this topic.

  If a scripture can be shown that Jehovah God "changes" his mind then are we to believe anything he says in the bible?

  i have always been taught that jehovah god never changes his mind and he always carries out what he predicts.

  then a friend of mine who is atheist showed me a scripture in the bible that caught me totally off guard.

  it is in the book of jeremiah.

  It's not God who changes His mind....it's the organization that is trying to take every scripture and understand it from a fundamental viewpoint and make it apply to the goings on of today. I honestly do not think that we as humans will ever completely know exactly what some scripture may refer to. JW's, as with many religions, try to make a scripture apply to whatever they want it to. Which is not hard to do. Views change with changing generations and the passing of time. What was thought of scriptures 10, 20, 20, 30, 40, 50 + years ago has changed. Hell JW's used to smoke and celebrate holidays! And there is nothing mentioned in the bible about either one, although we know these holdiays did not even exist in bible times and smoking is considered a defilement of the flesh. But my point is that with time comes change. We change. God does not nor does he have to. We are the humans and he created us. We have to figure out the rest.

  Intersting points. DF'ing is something I was never comfortable with. I remember as a kid my mom holding my hand and pulling me away from the DF'd person in the KH and whispering "you can't talk to her" It seemed to weird to me to pretend that someone who was standing in my midst suddenly did not exist. I will say that I don't disagree with keeping a congregation clean, you don't want it to become a free-for-all. But I am not so sure that it is the DF'ing that makes a person sorry or the actual sin that may have been committed from a JW viewpoint. I think most people fear DF because is immobilizes you socially. I mean if you are out having an affair and committing gross sin, I don't think most people would approve of such behavior and would thus prob choose not to hang out with that person. They may see them on the street and say Hi but that is about it. I don't think JW's give "worldly" people enough credit for being moral and decent people. Who says that you have to shun someone in order to reach their heart?? I think it is the fear of being DF that makes people sorry, not the actual sin in itself. Just my 2 cents

  Any Elders comments on latest idea about Sisters

  just finished our 2 day and one of the talks by the do indicated that single sisters in the congregation are to be subservient to all male brothers in the hall..as well a widow too is of the same "status".

  is this a new thought or just now an open secret?.

  personally, i dont think that is good - after all there are many elders who although, supposedly appointed by hs, can be personally involved with porn behind closed doors or nasty with his wife and family.. i personally know of two like that .... why should i listen to a "stranger" about my life?

  i was reading the find whitney heichel page of fb and the moderator has posted info about another missing girl in oregon (non-jw) well, apparantley this missing girl has some sort of a past or something and people are getting on the site (mostly jw's) and making rude remarks about this girl has a bad past and that it's prob her fault.

  i can't fathom how they can get on there after the horrible tragedy of whitney and yet because this other missing girl is not jw somehow now they attach fault to her going missing.

  this is exactly why i can't deal with jw's.

  we all know that the society treats us as door mats and we left our rights as christians behind when we got baptized ,but each congragation in britain is registered as an autononous charity ,so you and i the rank and file we contribute towards these charities .does this gives us any rights in the eyes of the law ?

  i had a chat with a solicitor and he said you might have but he needs to see first the constitution .the question is : i pressume that this constitution is the same in all british congagations and drafted from the brilliant minds of the watchtower leagal department .does anyone have a copy of a constitution ?

  has anyone ever looked into it ?

  I was reading the Find Whitney Heichel page of FB and the moderator has posted info about another missing girl in Oregon (non-JW) Well, apparantley this missing girl has some sort of a past or something and people are getting on the site (mostly JW's) and making rude remarks about this girl has a bad past and that it's prob her fault. I can't fathom how they can get on there after the horrible tragedy of Whitney and yet because this other missing girl is not JW somehow now they attach fault to her going missing. This is exactly why I can't deal with JW's. They are so locked in their world and belief that they are so much better than the rest of us that they can't even be compassionate. Now in all fairness most of the comments made are very kind. But it goes to show me that they are willing to take the the help from the community when it affects them but yet this "worldly" girl is missing and they immediately go on the attack of her past. Unbelievable.
